Name of Position:  Lead Hand – Mill Machining

Location of work:  Toronto

Job Description: Reporting to the Production Manager, the Lead Hand Mill Machining worker will always assist and co-coordinate all Mill Machining activities and tasks during the work shift.  In addition, will assist in overseeing daily activities, providing direction, assigning work priorities, etc.

Compensation: TBD

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

Terms of Employment: Full time permanent position

(Company-sponsored group benefits including extended health, dental, AD&D and life insurance upon successful completion of three months service.  The employees do not pay any premiums for the coverage.)

Responsibilities: This includes the followings but not limited to:

• Assisting and co-coordinating all Mill Machining activities and tasks always during the work shift
• Training and assisting team members in the safe operation, maintenance and storage of all tools and equipment
• Mentoring and acting as a role model for your team members while working with them
• Ensuring that all employees work within established guidelines, regulations, policies, and procedures with regards to health and safety, the environment and quality standards
• Read and assign daily work orders and drawings to ensure production deadlines are met
• Ensuring adequate materials are always available for successful completion of jobs by taking a weekly raw material inventory; provided by John H
• Ensuring that every skid has a tag and a destination
• Keeping all areas clean, clear of empty skids and waste product
• Making sure all workstations are cleared every night
• Keeping all machines in good repair and keeping maintenance logbooks current; reporting of any deficiencies or repairs required
• Requesting proper tooling and maintaining tool inventory
• Ensuring Mill employees record correct job and time allocation
• Working closely with Production Staff to create a positive and proactive work environment
• Any other duties assigned by manager


JOB REQUIREMENTS – All applicants must meet the following without exception:

• Must have good work ethics
• The ability to learn how to use, repair and maintain machines and tools with proper direction/guidance
• Knowledge of engineering science and technology would be an asset
• Design skills and knowledge would be an asset
• Able to pay attention to detail
• Able to use your initiative
• Able to work well with your hands
• Able to analyze quality or performance
• Excellent communication Skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to react quickly to reach deadlines
