FACILITATOR (2 Positions) – READY, SET, START PROGRAM (RSSP) for Nursing & Chartered Professional Accountant

Reporting: Reports to the Project Manager, RSSP

Progress Career Planning Institute (PCPI) is a not for profit career development, employment and training organization that support individuals with employment, training, and settlement and as well, businesses with HR Solutions to address skills gap in the labor market. The organization has a long history of addressing emerging needs in the workforce. Its success in delivering quality service is based on a business-like approach, supported by knowledgeable caring staff, user-friendly resources, community engagement and innovative programming. PCPI is expanding its programming again to include Foreign Credential Recognition preparation.

 Scope of the Position:

The READY SET START foreign credentials program is designed to support the transition of highly skilled newcomer healthcare and financial professionals, in obtaining accreditation in their field and successfully integrating into the workforce as part of their settlement process.  This program is funded by the Government of Canada and aims to help skilled newcomers find and maintain employment that commensurate with their education.

To help carry out this work, PCPI is seeking two dynamic and enthusiastic individuals to plan and lead activities within the program through facilitation of high quality interactive workshops, structured coaching and case-management including sharing of sector related resources and information.  The incumbent will liaise with team members, other projects’ staff and stakeholders to coordinate services and facilitate referrals in order to progress toward the goal of the project and to build capacity for the organization.

 

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

Program Planning

  • Plan, develop and implement the curriculum including Facilitator’s guide and activities, in accordance with the overall objectives of the project and term of funding agreement

  • Assist with project outreach to promote the program to garner clients and employment opportunities

  • Develop a program evaluation framework to assess effectiveness, relevance and quality of the program to support participants in obtaining industry credentials and employment

  • Regularly review content to ensure information is current and appropriate to client group.

  • Establish a network of employers in collaboration with team members, in order to engage the business community in hiring skilled participants

  • Coordinate Speed Mentoring activities for the respective sectors (Nursing and Accounting)

  • Ensure that program activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization, including, but not limited to health and safety and also comply with all relevant legislation and professional standards

  • Establish a case management system in accordance with the confidentiality/privacy policy of the organization that includes individual client files

  • Prepare documentation and reports related to program activities, track participants’ activities and progress data and updates on a regular basis

  • Provide participants with program orientation prior to intake to the program

  • Establish a risk management and mitigation plan for the workshops activities

  • Remain current and adaptive to changes within the sectors, labour market, and participant trends

Workshop facilitation:

  • Develop monthly workshop schedules in collaboration with the Project Manager

  • Develop and facilitate orientation sessions that outline the objectives of the program and mutual expectations for success

  • Provide continuous improvement to the design of sector-specific curriculum

  • Facilitate experiential workshops that prepare program participants with the necessary skills to succeed in the workforce including essential skills.

  • Deliver a light touch Career Planning workshop to help individuals identify a clear career path

  • Facilitate scheduled workshops using a client centered and focused learning approach adhering to the adult education learning methodology that includes the different learning styles

  • Develop and administer workshop surveys to support the data collection requirements of participations satisfaction

  • Address client issues in consultation with Project Manager and provide appropriate resolution in a timely manner.

  • Participate in professional development activities, team and staff meetings

  • Source and maintain adequate materials and industry resources in an organized manner

  • Provide written reports regarding participation trends, participants’ performance as required by management in order to respond to funding contractual commitment

  • Participate in industry related forums, associations and meetings and utilize networks to bring resources and referrals to the program

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Summary of qualification

  • A university degree in Social Science or a related discipline is required, with CPA/RN or RPN designation and three years facilitation experience in an adult education setting.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills

  • Experience online workshop/service delivery using a variety of online tools

  • Practical understanding and experience in teaching and/or adult education.

  • Project management, problem solving, with the ability to address client service issues in the classroom.

  • Superior judgment and political acuity

  • Proven written and verbal communication skills

  • Highly proficient with business technologies, including: Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with social media platforms.

  • Able to anticipate, understand, and respond to the needs of internal and external clients to meet or exceed their expectations within the organizational parameters.

  • Able to work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolves problems, and makes decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness.

  • Able to positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the organization.

  • Must be able to assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization.

  • Experience in building and maintaining networks

  • Demonstrate strong work ethics and professionalism that complement the business standards of PCPI.
