TORONTO EAST NEWCOMER SERVICES (TENS)

Welcome to PCPI Newcomer Services! Toronto East Newcomer Services (TENS) is a dedicated settlement service project designed to assist newcomers with Human/Soft Skills and enhanced language skills to successfully adapt to the Canadian workforce. Our experienced, knowledgeable, and multilingual staff are ready to support you with:

OUR SERVICES

Employment-Relevant Services:

  • Getting ready for the job: Our specialized, instructor-led employment-relevant workshops equip you with the required skills.
  • Opportunity to enhance your English language skills for employment in the health sector with a 6-week, instructor-led online language training.
  • Finding employment resources, including for regulated and non-regulated sectors.

Support Services:

  • Transportation and digital tools to participate in TENS activities (available based on individual need).

Community Connections:

  • Learning about healthy food choices and shopping on a budget through structured, in-person culinary workshops.
  • Exploring community resources.

Eligibility

If you are a newcomer, you and your dependents may be eligible to participate in these activities if you are:

  • A Permanent Resident of Canada.
  • A Protected Person as defined in section 95 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA).
  • A Convention Refugee.
  • A Live-in Caregiver: Temporary workers who hold or have received approval for a work permit (eligible for all services/activities except for language training).

Language Support

In addition to English (official service language), our multilingual staff can support you in five different languages: Farsi, Dari, Tamil, Amharic, and Oromo.
